SysModeler — User Manual

6. The Dashboard & Projects

The Dashboard (Project Browser) is where you find, organize, import, and open your work.

6.1 Anatomy of the dashboard

  • Filter tabs: All, Starred, Shared, and Invites.
  • Version filter: show only v1 or v2 projects.
  • Search: type a keyword/name to filter projects in real time.
  • View toggle: switch between grid (cards) and list view.
  • Project navigation: scroll continuously through current and historical projects.
  • Invites badge: the Invites tab shows a count of pending invitations awaiting your response.

Each project appears as a card showing its name, version badge, visibility icon, "updated N ago", and — where relevant — shared/role badges.

6.2 Creating a project

  1. Click Create / New Project.
  2. Enter a System Name (required) and, optionally, a Project Name.
  3. Choose the version:
    • SysML v1 — visual diagram modeling.
    • SysML v2 — code-based modeling (available to organization accounts; arranged via sales).
  4. Confirm. You're taken straight into the new project's workspace.

6.3 Importing a project

Use Import project to bring in shared architectures from collaborators. Supported file extensions:

ExtensionUse
.sysmlStandard SysML v2 source files
.jsonStructured model export/interchange
.kparSysModeler project archive

This lets teams exchange complete systems architectures and continue work in your own workspace.

6.4 Managing projects

From a project card (permissions permitting):

ActionHowNotes
OpenClick the cardEnters the workspace
Star / UnstarStar iconBookmarks it to the Starred tab for rapid access
RenameCard menu → RenameEnter a new, non-empty name
Clone / DuplicateCard menu → CloneCreates a fully independent copy of the project
DeleteCard menu → DeleteYou must type the project name exactly to confirm
Change visibilityShare modal (owners)Private or Public

Caution: Deletion is deliberately strict — retyping the project name is required — because it removes the project for everyone who has access.

The dashboard updates in real time: if a teammate creates, renames, or deletes a shared project, your list reflects it without a manual refresh.

6.5 Executive Dashboard (superusers)

Administrators and superusers get an Executive Dashboard giving a holistic overview of the enterprise — high-level visibility into performance, trackable metrics, and project health against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This is the enterprise control surface for governing large, multi-team modeling programs.
