7. Sharing, Roles & Invitations
SysModeler is multi-user; access to each project is governed by roles.
7.1 Roles at a glance
| Role | Edit model | Run AI queries | Manage members | Billing & visibility |
|---|
| Owner | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| Editor | ✅ (while online) | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
| Viewer | ❌ (read-only) | ✅ (ask AI only) | ❌ | ❌ |
- Owner — complete workspace authority: edit, billing management, invitations, role assignments, visibility, and project deletion.
- Editor — full authority to modify SysML code, edit diagram layouts, run queries, and manage model files (while connected).
- Viewer — restricted to viewing models and running AI queries. Viewers cannot edit code, modify diagrams, or use control-panel actions on the canvas.
7.2 Sharing a project
- In the workspace, open the Add collaborators / Share button.
- The share dialog has two tabs:
- Members — see everyone with access, search the list, and (owners) invite people by email with a role.
- Share Link — generate a direct project URL. Owners set visibility to Public (view-only link access) or Private (only explicitly invited members can enter).
7.3 Inviting members
As an owner:
- Open Members.
- Enter the collaborator's email and choose a role (Viewer, Editor, or Owner). A preview of the role's permissions is shown before you send.
- Send the invite; the person receives a pending invitation.
7.4 Responding to invitations
Invitations appear on the Invites tab of your dashboard:
- Accept — the project joins your active project list.
- Reject — the invitation is dismissed.
7.5 Managing members (owners)
From Members, owners can change a member's role or remove a member at any time; changes take effect immediately for that user.
